Krohn Joins Andersen Racing
For 2008 F2000 Campaign
PALMETTO, Fla., Feb. 13 - The F2000 Championship Series presented by Hoosier
Racing Tire got even more competitive today with Andersen Racing's
announcement that it will field a Van Diemen in that series for 20-year-old Anders Krohn
of Sandnes, Norway.
Krohn's No. 9 will carry decals advertising his sponsors - Trallfa
Industries, Coliseum Dental, Kruse Smith, SR Transport and Antenor - as well as the
Palmetto, Fla.-based team's sponsor, Allied Building Products Corp.
Andersen Racing drivers earned three of the top-five spots in the F2000
series last year. It is the official factory team of the most successful car in
F2000 history, Van Diemen.
Krohn finished second in the 2007 Dutch & Benelux Formula Ford championship
in his first season of formula car racing. He earned just one point less than
the driver who won the championship at the end of the 15-race season. Krohn
recorded six victories, nine pole positions and 11 podium finishes in all to
secure the runner-up spot.
Prior to that he had a distinguished karting career. He was the national
champion in ICC shifter karts in his native land in 2006, when he also became the
youngest driver ever to receive the prestigious "Golden Steering Wheel" award.
In 2006 he was the Scandinavian Champion in ICC, the GigaCup International
Champion, ICC and the KNA Champion, ICC. He finished 17th in the World
Championship in Super ICC. He also received the "Automobile Driver of the Year"
award, beating World Rally Champion Peter Solberg.
Krohn has been racing since 1996, when he won his third race ever at the age
of 9.
"I'm very happy to have signed with Andersen Racing," Krohn said. "I tested
with them for two days on January 7 and 8, and was immediately impressed by
the entire team. Never having been to the U.S. before I didn't quite know what
to expect, but I really loved everything about it. It was a great two days that
led to the signing of a contract with Andersen Racing.
"It's obviously hard to know what to expect when you're heading into your
first season in a new country, a new series and with a new team, but I was
definitely encouraged," Krohn continued. "I think that we can do a good job. My
main goal has always been to win, no matter what I drive. I will try to do that
also in F2000, although I know it will be tough. From what I have seen and
heard of the F2000 Championship Series, it is highly professional, with loads of
entries.
"All in all I am excited about making the move to the U.S. racing scene. I
would also like to thank three major sponsors that will be continuing to support
me in 2008: Trallfa Industries, Coliseum Dental and Kruse Smith. They took a
big chance on me last year but it paid off, so they will be supporting me
again in 2008."
"We're delighted to have Anders join our team for the 2008 season," said team
co-owner Dan Andersen. "He was very impressive when he tested with us, and
we've heard nothing but good things about him. We believe he'll fit in well
with our program; we have high hopes for him."
